The standard laboratory test NACE TMO-194 for detecting Sulphate Reducing Bacteria (SRB), which cause corrosion in a range of industrial locations, involves a serial sample dilution procedure and takes 28 days. The MicrobMonitor SIG Sulphide test kit uses a single test bottle and is completed within just 1 to 5 days. The SIG Sulphide test has been statistically proven to give results which have excellent correlation with the standard NACE TMO-194 laboratory test for a wide range of sample types including industrial waters, ballast and bilge waters, sediment core samples and fuel tank water bottoms. This reduction of 23 days for the test means critical system information is available much sooner, enabling timely review and implementation of control measures, and avoidance of operational down time. The test can be used in the laboratory or in the field.
